Medical Disclaimer

T1DTips is written by a T1D family sharing what has worked for us. It is educational information, not medical advice.

Needs review before launch

This page describes how the site actually works, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it checked before going live.

We are not clinicians

Nothing on this site is written or reviewed by a doctor, nurse or diabetes educator. We are parents. What we describe is our own experience of managing Type 1 Diabetes, and your situation may differ in ways that matter.

Your care team sets your plan

Insulin doses, correction factors, carb ratios, thresholds and sick-day rules are all individual, and they come from your care team. Never change a dose or a routine based on something you read here. Where we describe what we do, treat it as one family’s approach and confirm your own with your clinicians.

Carb counts and nutrition figures

Nutrition information on our recipes is calculated, not laboratory-tested, and product labels are always more accurate for branded ingredients. Check the label before you dose.

In an emergency

Our emergency pages are quick references, not a substitute for medical care. If someone is unconscious, cannot swallow, is having trouble breathing, or you are worried and unsure — use glucagon if it is indicated and call emergency services.
