T1D School Nurse Supply List

If your child has Type 1 Diabetes, it’s important to make sure their school nurse is fully stocked with the essentials. Here’s a recommended list of supplies to send at the beginning of the school year (and keep replenished as needed):

Low blood sugar treatments

Diabetes care supplies

Other essentials

  • Snacks (protein bars, crackers, etc.)
  • Extra drinks such as Zero Sugar Gatorade
  • Emergency Glucagon (Baqsimi, Gvoke, or Glucagon kit)
  • Copies of your child’s Diabetes Medical Management Plan (DMMP)

Tips:

Use a large bin (opens in a new tab) to store your child’s items Label everything with your child’s name Include instructions for when and how to use each item Check in monthly to restock or update info
